From Creeping to Capturing: McKenzie’s Sunrise Session 🌅📸
Every once in a while, a session starts with a plot twist.
McKenzie — a Jefferson County High School senior with the kindest heart and the most beautiful soul — met me in Knoxville for her sunrise session. We had picked this gorgeous new spot that I couldn’t wait to try out. But here’s the funny part… we may or may not have started our morning wandering around the wrong property.
Picture this: strangers (us) strolling around like we own the place, taking in the scenery, snapping a few shots, when the actual owner comes out. We weren’t exactly “thrown out” — more like gently redirected to the place we were supposed to be. But hey, not before we scoped out their yard like a couple of pros. Totally normal, right? Oh and -there were millions of birds in the bamboo and I swear the sound was giving major horror movie vibes.
Once we got to the real location, it was worth it. The view was phenomenal. But McKenzie? Unfazed. This girl is fearless. She took every bit of direction like a champ and looked stunning doing it.
Sunrise has officially stolen a piece of my photographer heart. The light was soft, warm, and magical — but I’m starting to think my favorite sessions aren’t about the time of day at all. They’re about the connection. The flow. The way my senior and I can laugh, roll with the unexpected, and still make magic together.
McKenzie, you made my job effortless. Your beauty is undeniable, but your kindness? That’s what really shines. I left that morning not just with beautiful photos, but with the happiest heart.
And hey… we even managed to stay on the right property the rest of the time. 😉
