Kate • Lavender Farm Magic • Cute Buzzing Bees
HELLO Kate, a total light of a human, and honestly one of the quirkiest, funniest, most down-to-earth seniors I’ve had the pleasure of clowning around with lately. And trust me… we clowned.
We finally made her session happen at the gorgeous MGM Lavender Farm in Knoxville, and it was giving dreamy glow, heavenly smells, and just enough chaos to make it memorable — basically, my ideal setup.
Now, let’s backtrack a second. This session had already been rescheduled once because of the rollercoaster that is Tennessee weather (seriously, can we not?). Then the day before the shoot, Kate got bit by what we think was a brown recluse. Yeah. You read that right. We were two seconds from pulling the plug again because girl looked like she’d been in a bar fight with a spider — but she pushed through, and we are SO glad she did.
The lighting? Flawless.
The vibes? Immaculate.
The lavender? Smelled like heaven itself.
She brought her boyfriend, who didn’t wear a matching shirt and looked like he got dragged into it all (but honestly he was a trooper). And then came her grandma, who looks more like an aunt, and her sweet momma, both of whom were pure sunshine. They got a little VIP tour of the farm from Mrs. Marcee (the absolute sweetest owner), while Kate and I got to work.
And by “got to work,” I mean laughed until our faces hurt.
Kate’s personality is so magnetic — that kind of quirky, genuine energy that makes you feel like you’ve known her forever. She’s the kind of person who makes everyone want to be her friend. Her goofy little moments, side comments, and full-on clowning with me had us in stitches. At one point, I had her spinning in the middle of the lavender and her equilibrium is just as messed up as mine.
Her boyfriend? He spent part of the session staring at this electric contraption that was buzzing nonstop and told us confidently that we’d live. Good to know, sir. Appreciate the safety report. I mean, he would know right? He's studying to be an electrician!
Oh — and the bees were beeing. Little yellow dust balls just living their best life in the lavender. Not bothering us, just doing their cute bee thing. I can’t even be mad.
By the end of the session, we were saying goodbye like we’d never see each other again. (We totally will. I’m emotionally invested now.)
Kate, you are hilarious, radiant, and such a bright spot in this world. I had the best time with you and your people, and I’m so dang happy we got to make this magic happen — spider bite, weather delays, buzzing boxes, and all.
