Kali’s Senior Session: Rainstorms, Thorns & Hair Hacks
So here’s the scene: It’s pouring rain. Not a drizzle. Not a mist. A full-on sky dump. And what are we doing? Waiting patiently to shoot a senior session because the weather radar said, “Maybe it’ll stop” (and we believed it).
Fast forward to five minutes before our start time — the rain just magically quits. The skies are still dark and moody, the field is wet enough to swim in, but we said, “Let’s go.” Because Kali? She came ready. Tick wipes in hand (smelled exactly like a citronella candle at a BBQ), brave face on, and a whole vibe.
We kicked things off with a quick family shot, because when everyone shows up dressed and supportive, you absolutelygrab the shot. Then it was just us and the swampy thorn field of Panther Creek State Park. I’m talking thorns everywhere. At one point, Kali even poked her finger and just kept going like the graceful warrior queen she is.
As we’re navigating this minor jungle situation, the sky decides to cut us a break and starts brightening up. Kali casually shows me this magical hair-smoothing tool mid-shoot (that I’m now ordering because I, too, want silky-smooth flyaway-free hair during thunderstorms).
We packed up and made our way to the second location. AS SOON as we got there — what do we get? A sprinkle. Of course. But we hustled and managed to grab some super sweet shots of Kali and her boyfriend, Lofton. They were total naturals. Also: he plays football and my boys play him this season. So naturally, I said I’d root for him — only if we win. 😏
By the time we were wrapping things up, the sky went full drama queen on us. Clouds were moody, the lighting was cinematic, and then BAM — the sun made a grand entrance like it was just waiting for its solo. And Kali? She handled every weather shift like she was in a music video.
Rainy vibes? Nailed it.
Swamp field with thorns? Owned it.
Golden hour glow? Straight-up main character energy.
Pretty sure this girl was made to model in every condition, and I’m just lucky I got to witness it..
